Chilika Lake:
Chilika Lake is Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon, located along the eastern coast of India, primarily in Odisha. Spanning over 1,100 square kilometers, it is a haven for nature lovers, bird watchers, and wildlife enthusiasts. The lake is home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins and attracts thousands of migratory birds during winter, especially at the Nalabana Bird Sanctuary. Dotted with scenic islands like Kalijai Temple Island and Rajhans Island, Chilika offers peaceful boat rides, rich biodiversity, and stunning views where the lake meets the Bay of Bengal.

Chilika-Lake
Start your day early with a bird-watching tour, especially rewarding during the winter months when thousands of migratory birds arrive at Nalabana Bird Sanctuary and surrounding islands. Nalabana Bird Sanctuary:
Located within Chilika Lake, Nalabana Bird Sanctuary is a designated Ramsar site and a paradise for bird watchers. The word “Nalabana” means "reed island," and this 15.5 sq km area is submerged for part of the year but emerges during winter to host over one million migratory birds, including flamingos, herons, ducks, and sandpipers. The sanctuary is best visited between November and February, offering a spectacular view of avian diversity in their natural habitat.
Rajhans Island:
Rajhans Island is a narrow strip of land located where Chilika Lake meets the Bay of Bengal, offering a unique blend of freshwater and marine ecosystems.
